Slide Show videos problems

Thursday, October 8, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 2:03 PM

Hi everyone! If thinking of putting together your own video slide show and projecting it at your party or wedding please take my advice. If you produce these videos yourself then TEST TEST TEST everything beforehand. I can't tell you how many of my clients who have put together their own shows have had nothing but trouble with them the night of their party. There are a lot of reasons why but unfortunately I don't have time to cover them all right now but contact me anytime if you have questions. This photo shows people scrambling to get the video to play at one of my receptions I DJed. The video never played because they did not have the proper cable to connect the laptop to the projector.

Grooms Panthers Cake

Monday, October 5, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 11:50 AM

One of the first things I always do when I arrive at a wedding is checkout the groom's cake. Some are very creative. I remember a wedding from two years ago when the groom cake was in the shape of a Nintendo Game Cube. It was perfect down to the last detail. I wished I had gotten a picture of that. This is the cake from the wedding I DJed last Saturday. "Go Panthers"

Saturday, October 3, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 10:38 AM

Just this week we shot some video footage for the Photo Booth video demo. It is in the editing stages now and should be ready to post on my website by the middle of the week. Had a ton of fun shooting the video and I hope it will be helpful for my customers. Tons of Weddings to DJ this weekend. I personally will be at the Oak Hills CC to DJ a reception and I'll post pictures on Monday. Have a great weekend!

Customer Feedback!

Thursday, September 24, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 11:32 PM

Wow, Jim was awesome! I had such a blast and that seems to be the consensus. (As if someone would tell me if they didn't...LOL) The mansion as well was very complimentary to Jim in how he got it all set up and played throughout the night in such... a small space so comfortably. Thank you so much for all of your help to get that set up! There are some great pics on my page of us dancing fools that night, feel free to copy any of them for your page if you like. :) I think there is a picture of the grooms cake too...in case you are curious!

Way to go Jim...

DJ Perks

Monday, September 21, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 9:45 AM

One of the perks of being a DJ is that sometimes (despite being 39 and covered in freckles) you can still get a pretty girl to pose with you. Actually this lady caught me off gaurd (not that I'm complaining). I was behind my DJ table at a reception when she suddenly grabbed me and had her friend take this picture.

What would you do?

Thursday, September 17, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 9:40 AM

The question I often ask my new DJ's is to imagine youself at your first gig and you are behind the DJ table facing a room full of guests. It is now time to start the dance and so my first question to the rookies is "what are you going to do?" Meaning, how are you going to start the dance off. So my question to anyone reading this blog is this: As you look at this picture if you were the DJ what would you do to get the dance kicked off? Remember the bride and groom are counting on you.

Elegant Black and Pearl Decor

Friday, September 4, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 10:54 AM

Throughout the years I've seen a lot of dinner set-ups at receptions. Here is one I found to pretty cool. The room decor was a black and pearl color scheme and the place settings at the table were very elegant. Each guest as they sat had a folded napkin with a menu and a tasty cookie for desert. Very nice...

Another Photobooth Rental Success

Thursday, September 3, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 11:19 AM

Last weekend we had a riot with the photobooth that we rented. It was a huge hit and at one point we had a line 20 people deep waiting to get in. In this photo a lady comes out holding her photo strip. What's cool is that the Bride and Groom get a copy as well. All photos are put on a disc for the Bride and Groom to keep at the end of the night.

Unique Ukrainian Tradition

Wednesday, September 2, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 11:22 AM

I always love DJing wedding reception that present traditions I've never seen before. For the first time ever I had a front row seat to a tradition in which the Bride and Groom hold hands with their family as the circle the head table. Directly after the guests all line up and greet the Bride, Groom, and their family by offering them money, well-wishes, and partaking in a drink. In this photo you can see the drinks for the guests laid out in front of the bride. This was a really neat experience to be a part of.

Way to go single guys!

Thursday, August 6, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 9:47 AM

One of my favorite parts of a reception is the traditional Garter toss. Trying to get the single guys to come out and look excited is always a huge challenge and can be like pulling teeth. At this particular reception I DJed last Saturday you can see the single guys that came out actually looked excited and eager to catch the garter. It goes without saying that based on this picture that this reception ROCKED!

Balloons for the chillin'

Saturday, August 1, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 9:42 AM

I've always had a place in my heart for the kids that attend weddings. Most get bored quickly and just don't get the importance of the day. The problem comes when it's time to get the adults up and dancing. An open dance floor is like a playground for the kids. So as soon as I start the dance music I break out the magic and balloons. This is a great distraction for the kids and opens up the dance floor for the adults. This photo was taken by Doug Gunder with Doug Gunder Photography.

The cornerstone of all great DJ's

Friday, July 31, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 11:40 AM

They just won't fade and die. Yes I'm talking about the one "lighting effect" that has stood the test of time. Whether during your ballroom, disco days, or your time skating around the monotonous circle at skateland with your goofy cronies the disco ball has been by your side. Yes, the cornerstone of dancing excitement. Even in 2009 Mobile DJ's can't seem to let it reach a peaceful demise. All hail the "DISCO BALL"!

I always say it's not actually official until the Bride and Groom have their first dance as husband and wife. I love Bride and Groom dances. Leaning tower o' cake!

Saturday, July 25, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 12:47 PM

I was DJing a wedding last year and was strolling around the empty room after setting up my gear. Guests were to arrive in about twenty minutes. As I approached the cake table I noticed the cake was leaning something fierce so I took this photo. The official cake cutting was supposed to happen after dinner but after arriving and seeing her leaning cake the Bride decided to cut it immediately. Last Song of the Evening

Thursday, July 23, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 11:29 AM

One of the best situations for a Mobile Wedding DJ is to end the night with a full dance floor. At last Saturday's gig I got just that. The picture shows the guests on the dance floor during the last song of the night "Piano Man". I love it when a Bride and Groom can look back and remember that their reception ended with a full dance floor. AWESOME!

Wedding / Reception Venues

Wednesday, July 15, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 12:55 PM

I've always thought it better when a Bride and Groom have their Wedding and Reception at the same location. Less driving time for the guests and less down time between ceremony and reception are just two of the benefits. This is ceremony I provided the music for and moved in doors right after for the reception. This took place earlier this year at the Fontenelle Nature Center. A wonderful venue for those wanting to have their reception and ceremony at the same place.

Open Dance Floors
