The cornerstone of all great DJ's

Friday, July 31, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 11:40 AM

They just won't fade and die. Yes I'm talking about the one "lighting effect" that has stood the test of time. Whether during your ballroom, disco days, or your time skating around the monotonous circle at skateland with your goofy cronies the disco ball has been by your side. Yes, the cornerstone of dancing excitement. Even in 2009 Mobile DJ's can't seem to let it reach a peaceful demise. All hail the "DISCO BALL"!

Bride and Groom Dance

Wednesday, July 29, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 11:56 AM

I always say it's not actually official until the Bride and Groom have their first dance as husband and wife. I love Bride and Groom dances. Over the years I have noticed that so many couples struggle over what their song will be and others know before they are even engaged. By the way, this particular reception rocked!

Tuesday, July 28, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 9:42 AM

Here is a photo of the Bandstand Music Photobooth set up at the Marriot in Regency right before guests arrived. It was a huge hit and we ended up staying an hour longer than contracted due to tons of participation.

Photobooth Scrapbooks

Monday, July 27, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 1:38 PM

Bandstand Music did another photobooth rental at a Wedding Reception in Omaha last Saturday. One of the options is the scrapbook. As you can see the Bride and Groom get copies of all the pictures that the guests sign along side in the scrapbook. This photobooth rentals are a blast!

Leaning tower o' cake!

Saturday, July 25, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 12:47 PM

I was DJing a wedding last year and was strolling around the empty room after setting up my gear. Guests were to arrive in about twenty minutes. As I approached the cake table I noticed the cake was leaning something fierce so I took this photo. The official cake cutting was supposed to happen after dinner but after arriving and seeing her leaning cake the Bride decided to cut it immediately. As you can see the grooms cake wasn't in any better shape.

Box o' Puppies

Friday, July 24, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 10:33 AM

The mother of the Bride gave me this box o' plush puppies to hand out to the kids during the reception. They were a big hit and I got to take all the credit. I always appreciate it when the family takes a little time to think about the kids.

Last Song of the Evening

Thursday, July 23, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 11:29 AM

One of the best situations for a Mobile Wedding DJ is to end the night with a full dance floor. At last Saturday's gig I got just that. The picture shows the guests on the dance floor during the last song of the night "Piano Man". I love it when a Bride and Groom can look back and remember that their reception ended with a full dance floor. AWESOME!

Always one of my favorite things to do the bouquet is always a lot of fun. This was from my Wedding Reception on Saturday night at the Ridge in Elkhorn. As you can see, lots of single ladies participated.

Cool Grooms Cake

Monday, July 20, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 1:18 PM

At every wedding I DJ I always take the time to check out the Groom Cake. Over the years I've seen some pretty cool stuff. It's always one of those cakes that you can have a little fun with. Friday's reception had a pretty "sweet" (no pun intended) Grooms Cake. Go Steelers!

Bandstand Stretchy Screen

Friday, July 17, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 10:07 AM

Hello everyone,

Bandstand Music has been using its new stretchy screen for some of our gigs lately. This is cool because you can run the projector from the front or from behind. This has been great for the video scrapbooks at weddings and for showing videos of the music as we play it. Love this thing.

Wedding / Reception Venues

Wednesday, July 15, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 12:55 PM

I've always thought it better when a Bride and Groom have their Wedding and Reception at the same location. Less driving time for the guests and less down time between ceremony and reception are just two of the benefits. This is ceremony I provided the music for and moved in doors right after for the reception. This took place earlier this year at the Fontenelle Nature Center. A wonderful venue for those wanting to have their reception and ceremony at the same place.

Cool Guest Keepsakes...

Tuesday, July 14, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 3:09 PM

This is a photo of a table full of little picture frames complete with picture of the bride and groom. These were gifts for the guests at a reception I DJed recently in Omaha Nebraska. Just thought they were kind of cool. I noticed it becomes more of a challenge every year coming up with guest gift ideas. Brides & Grooms want to give away something worth keeping but it has to be cost effective at the same time.

Candy Anyone?

Monday, July 13, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 9:47 AM

I had a blast at the Reception I DJed last Saturday night. Reception was here in Omaha at the Millard Social Hall. This is a photo of the "Candy Bar". I've been seeing a lot of these lately at my gigs and they are always a huge hit. Stay tuned to this blog... I've got some great pictures of the packed dance floor from this reception coming...

Groom Sings to Bride

Wednesday, July 8, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 8:23 AM

For the last song of the evening at my gig last Friday the Groom had a special request to sing to the Bride. I put in the karaoke version of "It's Your Love" by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill and the Groom sang the entire song to the Bride as she sat on a chair in middle of the dance floor. It was very cool way to end the night.

Open Dance Floors

Tuesday, July 7, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 9:35 AM

I love huge wooden dance floors. Reminds me of the old Big Band Days when Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, or Glenn Miller would perform. Those were the days when they actually had open dancing at "concerts". This is a picture of the beautiful north ballroom on the tenth floor of the Stockyard Exchange Building (one of my favorite places to DJ). Photo was taken by Monte Evans right before the dancing began.

Bride with Twisty Balloon Hat

Friday, July 3, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 11:00 AM

This is a photo of Michelle. She is the beautiful Bride from a reception I DJed recently at the Stockyard Building. She is wearing one of my "Twisty Hats". There is nothing I enjoy more that being able to con a bride into wearing one of these. Love it!

DJPOV (DJ Point of View)

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 , Posted by Bandstand Music Inc at 11:45 AM

I'm really getting into these DJPOV pictures. Over the last few months I've been snapping photos from behind my DJ table just to give you an idea of what it's like to be a DJ looking out at the crowd. "No Pressure" right! This photo was taken last Friday overlooking the empty dance floor while the guest ate dinner.
